So, I’m hosting a wine dinner in September in conjunction with Dunell’s Premier Wines with two fantastic Masters of Wine, which I’m super excited about.
I have the fabulous Michael Palij and the lovely Laurie Webster battling it out between their two representative companies, to see which wines our guests prefer more, all accompanied by five delicious dinner courses!
But of course, I couldn’t possibly go ahead with the event without first sampling the food and wine! 😉
First we start with some refreshing whites and a delicious course of scallops on a bed of fish cakes with lemongrass and ginger, a burnt yoghurt sauce and bean-sprout and fresh leaf salad…. Heaven!
Followed by smoked duck with a pomegranate, grapefruit, red cherry reduction and fresh leaf salad, accompanied with some voluptuous reds … At this point I am deeply swayed by the Argentine wine, I have to say!
The second main course was a challenge I have to say, especially as I’m not a big eater! But here it is, a fabulous fillet steak with red wine jus, dauphinoise and Ragu of creamed spinach and wild mushrooms … It killed me not to finish the whole thing, but dessert wasn’t far away!
Unfortunately, I was too lost in the cheese course to take any pics (sorry!), and yes, we did it the French way …. We are close enough to them after all! But I came round just soon enough to remember the dessert!
All in all, I can say it was a most thoroughly enjoyable day “in the office!” And if any of you may like to attend, the venue is the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel,Jersey who are dealing with the ticket sales, so feel free to contact them …. Although half the tickets are already gone!
I can’t wait to meet the masters of wine themselves and enjoy the food and wine all over again!
