Don Street Deli is the brain child of Michelin Starred Chef, Shaun Rankin.

You can find this little deli tucked away in the heart of town, on Don Street, funnily enough! The deli combines an opportunity to purchase delicious fresh local produce, with items sourced from further afield also. You can also pick up a copy of Shaun’s book, Seasoned Islands, whilst in there!

Shaun Rankin was previously head chef at Bohemia Restaurant, located within the Club Hotel and Spa, where he held his coveted Michelin Star, awarded to him in 2005 after just 2 years heading up the restaurant.

Numerous accolades later and after 9 years at the helm in Bohemia, Shaun embarked on a new adventure and opened his first restaurant, Ormer, in 2013 which was again quickly awarded a Michelin Star and 3 AA Rosettes.

Ormer was then soon joined by the wonderful Don Street Deli, which opened right next door in December 2013.

Each day, the deli boasts an array of fresh tasty food, including breakfast snacks, sandwiches and salads and very delicious looking cakes!

My absolute favourite feature though, has to be the wood burning oven! You can pop in and take a peek at all the delicious options available in the counter, then simply choose your sandwich fillings and the guys will piece it all together for you before placing in the wood burning oven to heat …. delicious!

The result is a sumptuous soft sandwich roll, lightly toasted to perfection, with absolute top quality fillings. I think I can actually go as far to say that this is ‘The Best Sandwich Ever’! Pop in if you’re around the area and let me know what you think!
