Friday night saw the arrival of the much anticipated Jersey Awards for Enterprise Gala Dinner. The awards are hailed as a showcase of business excellence in Jersey, and are certainly a very sought after addition to the trophy cabinet for many!
The awards were hosted by none other than the beautiful and charismatic, Steph McGovern, BBC’s business broadcaster. Steph wasted no time poking fun at herself and entertaining the crowd with a light hearted approach throughout the night, she really was the perfect choice to host the event.
Some of the more comedy moments related to Twitter accounts set up in Steph’s name, pretending to be parts of her body such as her Eyebrow’s and High Visibility Vest, definitely worth a cheeky read if you have time!
I was so busy enjoying the evening however, that there are barely any pictures, oops! I did manage to get one sneaky one of my new dress for the evening though, which you can find at ASOS.
Here’s a round up of the categories and who won which awards:
- New Enterprise of the Year: Healthhaus
- Small & Medium Sized Enterprise of the Year: Mainmann Group
- Large Enterprise of the Year: First Names Group
- Entrepreneur of the Year: Rupert Langly-Smith, of Proviz
- Award for International Sales: Proviz
- Not for Profit Organisation of the Year: Les Amis
- Award for Enterprise Excellence: Mainmann Group
An interesting fact I learnt on the night, Mainmann Group actually sell jel shoes named Melissa and Mel online and locally … so that’s almost a win for me too, right?!
There was truly a fantastic array of innovative, creative and entrepreneurial business’ in the room, with special mention also being given to the other shortlisted finalists in each category.
The food served was fantastic too, with a delicious Salad of local asparagus, baby mozzarella, sun blush tomato, balsamic red onion and croutons to start with. Something I wasn’t expecting to rave about, but I actually really loved.
This was followed by Citrus roast chicken marinated with orange, lemon, lime, thyme and bay. Finally rounded off with Local strawberries with cinnamon shortbread and Jersey cream. Yum! All delivered by the very talented Harpers Catering.
Jersey should be very proud of the sheer amount of talent contained in our little 9×5 mile island, I know I was certainly impressed and honoured to be amongst some of Jersey’s Finest. A huge congratulations to all the winners and here’s to another successful year!
