We all like to make the most of the beautiful Jersey weather during these precious summer months and personally, I can think of no better way to do so, than to enjoy some of the great local events and attractions taking place.
So here are my recommendations for activities this weekend. This list is by no means exhaustive, but you can find plenty more great events on the Visit Jersey website.
This free event is taking place on St Brelades Beach this Saturday, 18th July. From 10am until 5pm, you can pop down to the beach, throw down your picnic blanket, dig your toes into the sand and enjoy men and women piling into their scrums!
It promises to be a great day out for all the family and there are usually stalls dotted around with food and drinks if you prefer that to a picnic. The event also raises money for local charities, Holidays for Heroes, Jersey Womens Refuge and Beachability. So you can enjoy your day and do your bit for charity too!
Another great, free event taking place this weekend! On 18th & 19th July, you can join in one of the biggest street parties of the year! Taking place at Broad Street, Charing Cross, York Street and part of the Parade.
There will be music, graffiti art workshops, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Morris dancing and many more weird and wonderful acts to entertain you all weekend!
Before the competitive amongst you get too excited, I’m afraid entries are already closed for this event! However, there is no reason you can’t still pop down and show your support for the brave men and women taking part!
Yet another great event, organised by the team at 3D Events and taking place this Sunday, 19th July. The event will raise money for the Oscar Maclean Foundation.
Its certain to be packed full of adrenaline and I’m sure the competitors would greatly appreciate your support. You can find out more on the official website.
My final event recommendation for this weekend, is the live show at Jersey Opera House, Whitney – Queen of the Night.
This performance takes place on both Friday and Saturday night this weekend, and you can grab your tickets here for just £20!
This spectacular production is award-winning and features the super talented West End star, Rebecca Frekleton. The performance will feature all your favourite Whitney Houston hits and celebrates the life of this solo icon.
So there you have it, my top picks for the weekend. Who knew there was so much happening on such a little island hey? We’re so lucky!
I certainly know which event I’ll be at and I’m sure I’ll have a blog post to share with you again after! Let me know if you decided to go to any of these events, or if you choose a different one? I’d love to know how it was!
