I was recently nominated to participate in the Leibster Award by Sammy Hearts This. Thank you very much Sammy!
The idea behind this ‘award’ is to share a little more about ourselves and also help readers to discover other new bloggers.
I say ‘award’ in inverted comments, as I personally see it more like a fun blogger challenge! Whichever way you see it though, it’s certainly a great way to engage with the community and find out more about our favourite bloggers.
So, here are my answers to the questions Sammy posed me!
What does your blog mean to you?
My blog is my fascination. It’s become my most favourite hobby and a great creative outlet. I’ve discovered so many new things and met new people through the blog, it has basically been a life enhancing journey for me and I’ve loved every minute of it. It’s also great to think that I will be able to look back on all this in many years to come and relive so many happy memories through my blog posts.
Why did you start a blog?
I started reading The Londoner blog a few years ago and really took to it, I found it was great light reading whilst also helping others to discover new things and places, I’m still a religious reader of Rosie’s blogs now! A blog is also a fab way to keep an online diary of some of your favourite moments and memories, which is why I initially started, and now I can’t imagine not doing it. As I mentioned before, it’s opened up so many opportunities and new experiences to me, which I will always be grateful for.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
I always struggle with this one, probably because I want to talk too much! I guess;
Outgoing, Sociable, Loyal.
Wonder if my friends would agree? I shall have to ask!
What is something you wish someone had told you before you started?
How addictive blogging is! Whilst I suppose any hobby should be something you enjoy doing as often as possible, I do find myself considering every single trip away, dinner out and event, as a potential new blog post. Your mind is always switched on in blogger mode and sometimes there are simply not enough hours in the week to carry out everything you want to do, especially with a full time job too!
What is your favourite food?
Cheese, cheese and more cheese!
What track is playing on your Ipod right now?
I like such a variety of music. I’m currently shuffling between playlists on Spotify. It means I get to listen to current songs, but also switch back to older albums. Right this second, it’s the Camino Palmero album by The Calling.
What has been your biggest achievement so far?
Being shortlisted as Lifestyle Blogger of the year 2016 for the UK Blog Awards and appearing on local TV ahead of the awards ceremony! I attended the awards this weekend just gone, and it was fantastic! I didn’t win this time, but I’m so thankful to everyone who voted for me to get this far. I’m really proud to have gotten the first Channel Island blog into the UK Blog Awards finalist list and hopefully next year, we may even have a winner!
What is your life motto?
Sometimes you just need to start over, in order to fly.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
Successful business women and men, regardless of their field, especially those who have built themselves up from nothing. I don’t particularly have one singular person, although I like Richard Branson’s publicised ethos towards looking after his team.
My friends are also a huge inspiration, they’re all very strong characters and have always supported and encouraged me, it would be very tough to keep the blog going without all their support. (Thanks ladies!)
Tell me a random fact that not many people know?
I once appeared as an extra on the TV drama, Blue Murder, although I’ve never actually watched the episode, in case I looked like an idiot!
Where is the best place you have travelled to?
I love sunshine and beach holidays, just as much as I also love skiing holidays in the snow! I’ve had some great times down in the South of France, but the best travel decision I ever made, was to come to Jersey all those years ago and, not leave! It’s made me who I am today and I absolutely love my new home and all my friends that came with it.
Now, it’s time for me to nominate some more bloggers so you can get to know them better, and I’m going to stick with Jersey / Channel Islands based bloggers so you can all see how many lovely bloggers we have over here. Over to you guys…..
- Tori from A Bit of a Boost
- Frances from Jersey Breeze
- Hayley from Jersey Undressed
- Charlotte from Shopper Lottie
- Jordan from The Jersey Naturalist
- Alex from The Channel Island Girl
The rules are simple…
- Thank the blogger that nominated you through your blog or social media
- Answer the questions by the blog that nominated you
- Nominate 5-11 other bloggers (with under 1,000 followers on Instagram)
- Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer
- Notify all nominees via social media
And here are your questions….
- How would you describe your blogging style?
- Who is your hero?
- What is your favourite thing about Jersey?
- What is your favourite book to read?
- Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?
- What do you do in your spare time?

- Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now?

- If you could go back in time to change one thing, what would it be?
- What motivates you to work hard?
Happy blogging! 🙂 x
